On this pull it together Tuesday, I'm sorry to inform all of my Gods & Goddesses that I am taking a much needed hiatus from blogging. From time to time, if there is something I absolutely have share with you all, I will. I was so looking forward my son starting school, with the potty training, and pacifier fairy, it was hard but my son passed all of that with flying colors, only to be put in a class with teachers that are not a good fit for him, and because of this I've decided to keep him home with me for a year, and that involves me teaching him myself. I also need to push forward on my business plan, and I just have to much on my plate right now, so something has to be pushed aside, and blogging is going to be it... temporarily.

In the meantime, I'll leave you with this: It you don't care of yourself, you can't take care of anyone else!

We're off to the Shedd Aquarium, then its taking photos of new items, and working on one of my other big projects. So today is a real pick me up, to get my body moving. Hope it works for you and I. As a Mompreneur work never gets done! There is always something to do! Fun time with my Son, windexing, pledging, sweeping, mopping, laundry, vacuuming, fun time with Husband, shopping, paying bills, creating, sales, marketing, vending, etc.

Right now as I look around my apartment at the pile of business plan papers, catalog papers, ideas of new projects, laundry, dishes, mirrors with finger prints, dusty figurines, toys spiradically placed, and juice spots on the floor and carpet I can only shake my head, and feel the pounding in my head that is screaming I NEED AN ASSISTANT!!!!

She would be perfectly fine being paid with Jewelry and food, she would love kids, and love beading new creations. She would know how to put together a successful business plan. She would love to go on walks with me during down time and throw ideas off of one another. She would be a fashionista, in the loop of different events and parties going around Chicago, New York and other fabulous places, and know the next spot to go to Spread the word of The Isis Collections. She would be a social networking queen! She wouldn't mind baby sitting at least once a month so hubby and I can get our groove back. She would not only be a value to TIC, but she would be my good friend...

*sigh* In a perfect world that would be great! However its back to reality!

Pull It Together Tuesday (Pacifier Fairy)

So first off I want to say that I have ABSOLUTELY no problem with pacifiers unless that child is 10 years old and still needs them through out the day, then there's a problem, other than that I have no problem.

I admit my son is 3 years old and he still sucks his pacifier. However, he does not need it throughout the day, he only wants it when he is sleepy. I know about all of the "statistics" and "risk," but as his Mother these "statistics" and "risk" have not affected us, and I have NO PROBLEM with him wanting his pacifier for his naps, and at night.

HOWEVER, being that he will be starting school in September, and I think that this particular situation will help build his character and make him stronger. I have decided that I will let him make the decision of saying bye to his pacifier, sort a speak.

I recently told him that the Pacifier Fairy was upset, because he's a big boy now and big boys don't need pacifiers, so the Pacifier Fairy has been looking in the garbage everyday for his pacifiers so she can take them to fairyland, but there are no pacifiers there, and this is making her very upset. I asked my son, "Do you want the pacifier fairy to be upset?" My son said, "Yes!" I tried very hard not to laugh, and I succeeded. I then explained to my son again, that he was a big boy, and he needs to put his pacifiers in the garbage when he's ready so that the Pacifier Fairy can get them. My so then told me, "You do it!" I said, "No, you do it!" So far, no action has been made. We'll pull it together soon, lol.

Please give me some POSITIVE advice about this situation, lol.

So if you haven't noticed from yesterdays post, I sooooooo enjoyed myself in Memphis, TN on my husband and I's anniversary vacation. Memphis is not only fun family time at places like Beale Street and a guitar shaped swimming pool:

but as an African-American Woman I learned so much about my history at places like the Stax Studios, the National Civil Rights Museum, Graceland, Sun Studio, etc:

Going to these places put so much gratefulness, and sorrow into my heart. These people marched, and fought for future generations to walk proud with their heads held up high and say, "I am a man!" "I am a woman!" "I deserve to vote!" "Listen and love my music no matter what color I am!" "I can sit where I please, drink water from whatever fountain I please, and sit and eat where I please!" So many things that we take for granted now a days, cause there I so many people preoccupied with who's sleeping with who, what kind of car whoever is driving, and what the next person has. To busy looking to videos and movies for the wrong type of education, instead of going to the books and going to schools to get the education that our ancestors fought so hard for us to have.

I took three very important young people on this anniversary vacation with my husband and I, and I just hope to God that one day they'll understand this lesson, and I hope that you reading this can pull it together to understand the lesson as well.

Happy Pull it Together Tuesday!

I know I just came off of a wonderful vacation at Wisconsin Dells with my family, but I admit, that I had a little bit of a breakdown last night. I'm so used to doing this and that, but when it comes down to me chilling out and resting I feel so guilty about it, that I just have a crying fit, and my husband looks at me like, "not this again!" So since I wasn't successful at resting yesterday, I'm determined to do it somewhat today ;-). I've made a couple important phone calls, and I'm going up to my sons preschool, to finish registering him, but other than that I'm pulling nothing together, until probably about Thursday!

Continuing with change today on this Pull it Together Tuesday, when I quit my job in order to positively strengthen my marriage, nurture my son, and build my business. I knew that it was a huge step that involved major change in my life, but I had no ideal about the level of change. It is indeed a process that is very challenging to enjoy, but I can honestly say that I am enjoying the struggle, cause I know that the outcome for my family will be nothing but success, because my Father God is guiding me! These obstacles will be Pulled Together and we will be Victors!

This week, I'll be continuing to love my husband, and other family, potty training, registering my big boy FOR PRESCHOOL!!!!! Being active on Etsy, updating the measurement descriptions on the website, putting together this seasons newsletter (if u would like go sign up for our newsletters, click here.), working on my business plan, preparing for this coming weekends Custers Last Stand Arts Festival in Evanston, and getting my purses together for the RWOC Volunteer project at.

Whew! I can't wait til my vacation next week!

Good Morning Gods & Goddesses!I've missed you all! I took a whole week off. It started off Unintentional, then it ended Intentional. I was sick as a dog, as my Grandma would say in the beginning of the week, then towards the end I just decided to take some time for me, and not be worried about what needs to be done. I'm sure you all can understand that.

Working on yourself, your marriage, nurturing children, and sometimes even carrying the weight of the world cause I think I'm superwoman can take it out of you some times, but with all good things, you know there was lots of changes to make them good.

Are you the kind of person that plays it safe? Well, I think I am in some ways. Sure, every once in a while I take a chance and leap out on faith, like when I snuck out of the house to be with boyfriends, or when I went away to college, and when I married my husband, and even when I quit my job of 4 years, and became a WAHM, but lately I've been thinking I should do it again. I'm tired of playing it safe.

I feel that if you want big things to happen, you have to make big moves! I absolutely feel that big moves should be researched, and be done with smarts. Soooo this is why I've decided to finally stop talking about it, and put some action to it.

I'm going to finally start the 1st store to my chain of Isis Collections Stores! However it has to start with a real functional Business Plan! I have the template, (The business plan I put together Junior year of college. Yes, I have a BFA in Fashion Design/Fine Arts) now I just need to update it, and add my current logistics, and do some real footwork!

Have you ever been so busy, that you don't even remember half the stuff you've done? Well thats how I've been for almost 2 weeks. I've been seriously working on auto piolet, because of this I absolutely refuse to do anything else for anyone, but my son for the next couple of days! I've had meetings, errands, replinished products, shows, photo shoot, etc., and after trying to be on the show for years, I finally had the oppourtunity to be apart of the Oprah Show audience!

So first, I was so exceited, but I had to contain it because I was on the Red Line "L" and everyone would have thought I was a crazy lady, so for 40 minutes I had to try to calm down, while waiting to get to my stop. So, I thought about how I was going to tell my Mom that WE WERE GOING TO THE OPRAH SHOW!!!!!!

I get home, and tell my mom about the great meeting I just had, and that the only bad part was that I was going to have to wake up really early, and not be around my son for a couple days. I also proceded to ask her do you know why I'll have to wake up early and not see my son for a couple days? Uninterested my mom says "Why?" I tell her, "CAUSE WE'RE GOING TO THE OPRAH SHOW!!!" Then I here crickets, and I'm like did this woman not hear me? She then continues asking me the most ungrateful questions, like, "Who's on the show?" (does it matter, its OPRAH!!!!) and "What time do we have to be there?" and "Why does it have to be so early?" I'm like, UNBELIEVABLE! How long has this woman been telling me about trying to get some Oprah tickets, and this is all she has to say! So I tell her, "Momma I'll take somebody else!" and I leave her apartment. She later calls and says that she's having some womanly problems, and that she was sorry, and is excited.

Moving on, I finally get together an outfit, fit for the show. Complete with an Isis Collections bold necklace set, and we're off! After standing in line, going through security, having my cell phone taken, and sitting in the waiting area for 45 minutes we're finally sitting in our chairs in the studio, and we're surprised to find out that we're getting double Oprah! 2 Tapings! The 1st taping is Chris Rock which was aired Friday, April 22, 2011, and the second taping was Michael Douglas, which airs, Tuesday, Apiril 26, 2011. Hearing Oprah's voice as she stepped out on stage was like a dream. I could not believe that I was this close to her. She went on with the interviews, and answered questions from the audience members. I had so many questions going through my head like, "Would you like to help out a Mompreneur?, and will you have A Women of Brewster Place Reunion? and My mom was so upset about her Soap Opera shows being cancelled, You are my Soap Opera Oprah!" I was so scared, and star struck that I couldn't raise my hand so that the microphone could come my way, and before I knew it, the experience was over. With no giveaway, pictures, or autograph, to help us remember this when we're 90 years old. We stood in line to retrieve our coats, our purses, our cell phones, and I was left with this sad, bitter sweet feeling.

How could I be so close to someone I admire like an Auntie (like Maya Angelou status), and not be able to talk to them? For them to not know who I am. I know if Oprah, knew of my situation she would want to help, but she doesn't so she can't help, so I have to help myself.

So because, of this, I feel that I've been working hard to push my business off, but there is always more that can be done, so I believe, that although facebook has been a great tool for putting The Isis Collections on people's radar, and keeping in contact with family and friends, but I think its time to move on. It's time to get off the computer and put my feet to the pavement. I'll still be on facebook, cause its sooooo addictive, but not daily. So loved ones, clients if you really want to contact me, I'm just a phone call or email away. Enjoy this Oprah Experience and your week!

Faith & Doubts

This post is my Thankful Thursday, and Fine Jewelry Friday rolled all into one. I'm so thankful to have been given the opportunity to attend an Oprah show taping yesterday (I'll post my experience, this weekend), and also on this Fine Jewelry Friday, thanks to Tamika Martell over at A-line Style Services, I'm so thankful to have been given the opportunity to have my jewelry pieces photographed at a Frock Shop Photo shoot!

So right now I'm running on a quarter full and this Chicago weather is not helping. I'm praying that I make it through this day cause I'll be running literally from 6am til about 11pm with a small break in the evening.

With all thats going on in my mind, and my sometime negative thoughts battling my postive ones, the saying, all that glitters isn't gold pops into my mind. Pondering all that, I've come to the hypothesis that this saying, I think, was created by a negative person, cause I feel like my life is glittering right now, and I can't wait to see, and embrace the diamonds!

Thankful Thursday (Day 3 of Potty Training Bootcamp)

Today is Day 3 of Potty Training Boot Camp. I woke up a little tired, and not wanting to get out of the bed, partly because I was missing my husband. He took a few days off of work, and its been good having another adult in the house do pick up a little slack around the house. Also because he was here, and we were so tired form having 2 shows this weekend, I've totally neglected the house and have not cleaned one thing. So today this Thankful Thursday I'm thankful that the entire house is vacuumed, floors have been swepped and mopped. Several spots have been dusted or wiped with my favorite clorox wipes. The stove has been cleaned, counters have been washed of all cooking grease, dishes washed, we've been fed breakfast and lunch, fb, and twitter status have been updated, all the merchandise I have so far has been added to the website, a list of future task have been created, and best of all my son DID #2 IN THE POTTY AGAIN TODAY, YEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND ALL OF THIS BEFORE NOON! THANK YOU GOD!!!!!

This is our potty & nice board, when my son tells anyone that he has to potty and he actually goes and does it he gets a sticker. Smiley face for #1's Apple for #2's. Everyone else on the board gets stickers when they've been exceptionally nice! No one so far, lol.

Day 1 of potty Training. 12:45pm. No accidents so far.

3:30pm Picked Grace up from school, and the little one had no accidents! #1 are going good. Still no signs of #2.

6:30pm Had a #2 poop accident. Felt the need to stand in front of the fridge playing with the letter magnets while pooping.

8:00pm He told me he had to poo poo, and he actually DID IT!!!!! High fives, stickers, and promises if ice cream comes tomorrow. Day 1 was a good day!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, but it's confession/venting time! My head is screaming and spinning right now. I'm so happy to be about 80% done with the new Jewelry, scarves and headbands, but I wish I was 100% done especially since I have 2 shows coming up this weekend! The Vintage Clothing & Accessories show in Grayslake, IL and the Bridal Expo, but I still have to put all of these items on the website, so if you want to order something new, you will have to email or call, and I'll email you an invoice for payment.

I'm so upset that I've neglected my ETSY store. I really need to be on top of this! Does anyone else out there have this problem of letting life and facebook stop you from tending to your ETSY store? I'm also upset that I ordered labels about 3 weeks ago, and they have yet to come, so some items this weekend will be sold without labels, and that kind of making me angry, as well as my last order of beads haven't come yet, so tonight I'll probably be up all night, and to top it off I'M SO SLEEPY, and this foggy weather isn't helping at all!

I'm so incredible thankful for my gift, and these opportunities, but I think it's just time for a nap. Then I'll wake up and feel the imaginary sunshine on the FINE JEWELRY FRIDAY! Well I'll have a lot to pull together for the next couple of weeks! I'm busy preparing for a Vintage Clothing & Accessories show in Grayslake, IL as well as a Bridal Expo, and I not only have new Jewelry to create, but I have to complete new hair pieces to be modeled by Ms. Deveraux of course, and scarves to make!

However, today, I'm taking a break and going to the Doctor with a good friend of mines. She's pregnant with twins, making her a mommy of 5 and I just want to support her in any way I can! Then we're going out for lunch, and after that I'll go wherever the Lord takes me.

So, because of this I needed to post my blogs and fb statuses ahead of time so that I can give her and the twins, my full attention!

So I'm getting off of my Birthday festivities high, and now I'm trying to figure out should I pull together on my list of things to do, or should I continue to relax. Some of you understand that just one month ago I was a verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry busy lady. Mentally and physically I still can't get used to the fact that I can do whatever the hell it is that I want to do. Whether its go crazy pushing my business, The Isis Collections, go crazy being a stepford wife, or sit down and watch T.V. Whatever I choose will be perfectly ok, but I still can't help but feel guilty about just sitting down and doing something for myself, like read a book, or watch t.v. or go for a walk by myself. So much so, that I get headache about just thinking about doing something for myself.

So this is my dilemma, after making myself sit back and let others do things for me for my birthday, I'm struggling with feeling selfish and wanting more, or going to my to do list. Am I alone feeling like this?

Motivating Music & Reflections Monday!

I couldn't sleep last night, so I decided to cruise a few blogs, and make some friends and I came across this wonderful blog called Just Just A Night Owl who I guess. got inspiration from another wonderful blog The Simple Woman. Both of these blogs lead me to todays post, which is not apart of our regular scheduled program of Music Monday. Instead, I'll be focusing and enjoying the simple things.

Reflections in list form.
Outside my window…it's pretty mundane, no sun, no snow, no rain, and at 9:30am there still is no parking on my block. (I leave on the Northside of Chicago, that is known for never having parking!)

I am thinking…if I should make breakfast or is this a cereal and a bagel day.

I am thankful for…LOVE

From the learning rooms…I will prepare some new necklaces, and scarves, and pray that I've made the best choices for family

From the kitchen…I've taken the Shelled Jumbo Shrimp out of the freezer that I think I'll make for Lunch.

I am wearing…a gray v-neck t-shirt. YES! Thats it. I work from home, and no one is here. Even though I'm a designer I don't like wearing clothes when I don't have too, lol.

I am creating…elegant, modernly trending necklace pieces.

I am going…to make breakfast of cereal soon.

I am reading…all of my VC Andrews books over again, first book, Flowers in the Attic

I am hoping…thata I actually get out to the boutiques this week, and I start my walking regimen.

Around the house…are the remainders of a busy weekend with family. Toys, pillows, and air beds everywhere!
One of my favorite things…is Lemon Parfaits from Kentucky Fried Chicken.

A few plans for the rest of the week: I absolutely have to make it to the fabric stores, and beading boutiques. I need to start my walking schedule, have a conversation with my husband everyday, return a couple phone calls to friends, and LOVE, Love, LOVE!!!!

Ok, I'll admit, I've reached a little creative block. I heard that you reach a block in your life, after working real hard, and I guess it's true, cause I'm one of the hardest working people I know (Patting myself on the back moment)!

So to deal with this, I'm going to try to push myself out of the house, and go to a couple of my favorite stores like:

Today I'm Thankful, for my ancestors. Without them I would not have an option for anything! I wouldn't have an option of what restaurants to go to, what schools to go to school, I wouldn't even have the option to walk down the street by myself without the possibility that something horrible may happen to me. I'm incredible thankful for the Rosa Parks, the Medgar Evers, the Wharlest Jackson's without you this world would never have been ready for me :-). Thank You!!!!!

The Goddess Isis has been my muse, and inspiration for creations. She loved her husband, she loved her child, she loved her family, and nurtured everything that she came in contact with, she was gentle, and strong, elegant, and mysterious, all the characteristics of myself.

After posting this I began thinking, what about The Isis Collections will make Customers want to purchase an item, spread the word about The Isis Collections and keep them coming back for more?

I discovered that its because they can relate to my story, my mission.

TIC's Pandora Bracelet

Look at peoples arms, and what you will see are everyday leather bands, momentum bracelets like charms, silver blocks spelling out childrens names, affirmation charms, Sparkle crystals, healing Gemstones. Why do people wear these?

They wear them cause they make them reminisce, they make them feel special, they envoke a time of happiness.

The process of making jewelry is very theraputic with the usage of gemstones, but good for the soul in itself, and it makes us happy passing that experience that gave birth to something beautiful on to someone else. This Pull It Together Tuesday, I have to pull together my body!

I know this too shall pass, but I am so sick and tired of being sick! Can someone please come get my sick 3 year old so I can get better!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, first I was having muscle spasms that brought on bad migraines, and difficulty sleeping. I was prescribed pain medicine with a narcotic, along with muscle relaxers that made me feel 85% better, but now I feel all drugged up with a dripping nose, sore throat, and a major case of drowsiness. All while trying to coax my son into eating cause he's sick as well with a dripping nose, and a cough. At least his vomiting and temperature is better, but I'm to the point of feeling like when is this going to end, and am definitely not feeling like a Goddess. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm slowing down with the booking of Home Parties, only because it looks like my getting a car is not in the cards right now, but if the wonderful CTA can get me to Hostesses house then I am there! Today, I'm not only doing trend research (Pink is going to be big next season), but I'm also doing history research, (Jewelry had a religious and magical significance in the Egyptian ancient world by protecting the wearer from evil.),

preparing for the last day of my Valentine's Day open house (Moscato lots of Mosacato),

preparing to take my son to go see Gnomeo and Juliet, and a wonderful date night with my Husband.
